Come dance with us!

The upcoming good weather brings great summer plans such as one we ́ll have in Battery Park City Parks (BPCP) in southwest Manhattan. This Saturday, May 21, from 6:30-8 pm in Esplanade Plaza, Sonia Olla & Ismael Fernandez will kick off this year ́s events calendar. The dancer and singer will guide all attendees to discover the keys to flamenco dance in a free event open to all ages and neither a partner nor experience is necessary.

Undoubtedly, our shows had a great response these last few months. Alix Cohen of the blog Woman Around Town, had great things to say about “Circo de la Luna”, of which we had 3 sessions at Baruch Performing Arts Center: “The highlight of the show is unquestionably Olla’s fabulous dancing and Ismael Fernandez’s powerful vocals (if only some of these songs were translated!) Both artists are riveting and sensual. Olla’s foot, arm, hand, and skirt work is a marvel of precision and finesse. Her eyes flash with innate, feline dare. Fernandez’s often a capella singing is immensely evocative. He challenges, seduces”.

“Al Son Son Flamenco” was a complete hit and we hung the sign “sold out! ” on the two shows we held the past 12th and 13th of May at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club. But remember, all is not lost and you can still enjoy “Al Son Son Tablao” the version of the show highlighting its most intimate flamenco and that we will show it June 3 in the Spanish Center of Queens.
